Long Live the King

While I know that many people believe that it is terrible to have a monarchy, or some form of government where one person rule, I for one do not think that it would be such a bad thing.  This is why I disagree with the writings of Milton to turn people against the king, and Brutus to turn people against Caesar.  I also believe that if citizens of a nation want something bad enough, they will fight as long as they have to until they get it.  In England, the commoners wanted to have a king, even though they were told that democracy would be better.  In Rome, Brutus and the Senate tried to keep the old government when the people wanted to change. I think that if people want a monarchy, it is not so bad to give it to them.

  1. I agree that it is more imiportant to follow the will of the people. I don't think there is an ideal form of government, more that there is an ideal for each specific society.

  2. I think that there is a truth to the fact that people will often fight for what they want but also these same people generally are fighting to better their life not someone else's and i think that a democracy or something to a degree of a few in power who have in mind the ideas of the majority while looking out for the rights of the few is ideal. People are so fickle as to what they want and people as a whole are never satisfied so a government is there to differentiate with what is necessary and what is absurd.

  3. Amen Emerson! People are selfish, which doesn't bode well for government. Eventually, everyone is so focused on "ME" that nothing is accomplished anymore. Does that mean to change the form of government? Or does that mean that a new generation of people needs to be born in order to restore order? Or maybe we are still waiting on a Skywalker to restore balance to the Force...
